Valley Park Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels

The Meals-on-Wheels program was started back in 1972 by an ecumenical women's group called Church Women United. In 1993 MOW separated from Church Women United and became a separate corporation called 'Meals on Wheels of Greater St. Louis. Today there are 16 programs in St. Louis city and county. Each program is independent and has its own food source and distribution point.

The Valley Park Meals-On-Wheels program delivers hot meals each week day to seniors and disabled residents. Meals are prepared at Cape Albeon. Diners pay for their meals, never more than $3.00, with subsidies for low income residents. We look to service clubs, fraternal organizations, church groups and individuals to make up the difference between what we charge recipients and what we pay the food source.

If you know of anyone in the Valley Park, Twin Oaks or Fenton area (North of Bowles Ave) who could benefit from this service call Jackie at 636-394-7531.

This service is provided by an all volunteer staff. Volunteers work as little as 2 hours one day every other week. Each day has a different Day Chair, different Cold Packers and different Drivers. Behind the scenes, there is a Recruiter, Dispatcher, Secretary, Bookkeeper/Treasurer and a President.

Meals on Wheels receives no government funds. It is a non-profit organization under the Missouri tax code. Contributions are tax deductible.

Contributions may be sent to:

County Older Resident Program

What can CORP do for YOU?

Please call — Lynn at 636-529-0018 Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM or leave a message on the machine.

If you are a resident of St. Louis County and 60 years of age or older — the Saint Louis County Older Resident Programs (CORP) can help. Volunteers, driving their own vehicles, can pick you up at your house — drive you to your doctor's office — wait while you see your doctor — and drive you home again all at no charge to you (though donations are appreciated). Call for more information about our transportation service and other services offered by CORP or to volunteer.

May the Holy Spirit keep the Word of God ever before you.
